Did you know that anxiety, depression, low self-worth, self-hatred excess weight/obesity, and self-sabotage can be symptoms of trauma and can be addressed holistically?
Not many people get through life, let alone childhood without experiencing trauma or unmet needs of some sort. Whether abuse, neglect, exploitation, narcissistic parents, a home with violence of any kind, substance use/abuse, mental health issues in the home, crime, assault etc.
I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma and who experience symptoms of trauma such as anxiety, depression, low self-worth, self-hatred, excess weight/obesity, and self-sabotage. These issues must be addressed holistically. It is not possible to address mental and emotional health without supporting and healing the physical body.
A big part of that involves detoxifying your body and environment. What you put into your body and surround yourself with has a big impact on your mood, motivation, and general health and wellbeing (body, mind, and spirit). You cannot Thrive in a sick and toxic body.
I help people make and sustain healthy changes in their lives that enable them to meet their goals. One area of my specialty is helping people identify ways that they self-sabotage, or basically stand in their own way/become their own obstacle to meeting their goals. Any type of goal really. Some of the big goals a lot of people work towards involve health, weight, career, finances, relationships, etc.
Most people have come up against self sabotage at one time or another. It can look like different for everyone. You might start by asking yourself if you have ever had a difficult time meeting certain goals, or goals in certain areas of your life. If so, ask yourself a few more questions.
Do you hear yourself say:
-I am just so busy.
-I don’t have time.
- Other people can do it, but not me, there is something wrong with me.
-I am too scared/anxious/depressed/sick to…
-If I cannot do it perfectly, it is not worth doing or is a failure.
- Things don’t work out for me.
-I can’t do it.
-I am such a procrastinator.
- I am so disorganized.
-I am not smart/motivated/good… enough.
Or do you tend to:
-Avoid making choices (which is actually a choice in itself).
-Start projects and not finfish them/quit.
-Do the opposite of what you planned.
-Take a victim stance.
-Blame others or circumstances.
-Lash out or clam up.
If you answered yes to any of these, you likely engage in self-sabotage.
So why do we do that? There are a lot of reasons why we self-sabotage. Most people have a lot of limiting beliefs and use negative self-talk (usually stemming from wounding in childhood). These automatic thoughts are so ingrained and we decided they were true so long ago, that we do not even usually hear ourselves saying them. They get in the way big time! Shame, guilt, and low self-worth are big obstacles for many, and are often hard to self- identify. Fear of success and of the unknown get in the way too. We tend to get comfortable in the familiar, even when the familiar is not great, or even down right awful. Many people will stay in a bad/unhealthy known rather than try the unknown. Many people who are willing to take that step and see what else there is, find that there are great things right outside of their own door.
You have a choice! You ARE worth it!
You can choose to do things differently and leave behind lifestyle diseases like cancer, diabetes, obesity, auto immune diseases, hormonal issues, digestive issues, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, cardio vascular issues, depression, anxiety, mood fluctuations, and much more.
It is time to take action, choose you, and live your best life! Educating yourself is a great place to start. Then, identify areas that you feel ready to make small (or big) changes, and take action. I can help in all of those areas.

Start wherever you are. Whatever level of readiness you are at is perfect. Adding healthy choices in is an easier place to start for many people than taking things away. I was so lucky to have a supportive friend who was also a health coach that I leaned on. I remember how I panicked and cried at the thought of trying a one-day juice fast. I did not believe I could do it, but I did. There were so many things that I used to tell myself I could not do. Don’t count yourself out. Find changes you are willing to make and make them.
